I miss home.

Summer is soon to end and Fall is fast approaching. I realized how fast each day goes by.

In the Philippines we only have two seasons: the summer and the rainy. Which make it looks like we have longer and slower time and day compared to those with four seasons. And thinking about it, I miss home...so much.

It's barely 3 months now since I left home and I terribly miss my family, my friends, my relatives, the malls, the churches, my CFC-SFC community, the moviehouse, the tiangge, the bazaars, the traffic, the street food, the corrupt government, the cockroaches in the streets, and everything there. Oh I wish we can just go home that easy. You see, I'm not really a traveller but I enjoy travelling a lot too and this is the longest time in my life where I am away from home.

Before Hubee accepted the job offer in Chicago, he consulted me first. He knew from the start that I would be dealing with loneliness when he goes out to work while I wait at home til he comes back. We did pray for discernment and maybe that's the reason why we're here. A few years is quite a sacrifice to make if we want a better future for us and for our future children. Well, many of us do.

So to fight this homesickness which is usually linked to boredome, I would have to make myself busy. I made some wonderful indoor activities to waste my precious time: check my emails, surf the net, read books (I haven't finished my French lessons yet), watch dvd, watch tv, play with the dogs (Sampson is my favorite - he's a big, cuddly Samuyed), and my late afternoon tread mill in this order. Pretty much fun though.

Sometimes I get the feeling that I used to do these activities when I was still in the Philippines during those times when I don't go to work early in the morning and just sit back and relax in the comfort of my room. Which makes me think that "Heyyy, this is very much like the leisure time I had there." And then I get homesick again.

So my life is basically boring when I'm jobless, haha! I guess once you started to work and you left a career behind it would take a while to get used to it when you switch from a working employee to a fulltime housewife.

Well, everything changes. I expected these things to come anyway so I try my best not to feel lonely. The only thing I didn't miss much is the Filipino food. We try to eat Pinoy dishes atleast 4 times a week so there goes my thread mill. Hubee is more worried than me when it comes to my eating habits. He said I'm getting bigger but I don't feel it I'm big, maybe just a little. Can't blame him, Hubee's relatives here cook great Filipino food and surprisingly his cousins love them too! So basically, we all love Filipino food! There's some Asian stores here where we buy the ingredients. But there are still a lot of Filipino delicacies that are being sold only in the Philippines.

When we get home, that's the first thing that I would do - crave for them all! Oh, I wish it's anytime soon! :)
