Blue Angels in the sky!

It was my first time to see an air show and what makes it special is that it was performed by the US Air Force, the event that I only see on TV. I don't know anything about planes, jets, and air exhibition but yesterday I felt so connected to the excitement of my Hubee when we reached NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach. With Uncle Danny and Auntie Aida, we went straight to where the action is.

It was pretty hot outside and the weather in North Carolina at that time was stormy. So we kind of expected to have a rough weather too later in the afternoon. True enough, after the air exhibition of F-22 the Raptor, the rain started to pour slowly.

At first it was just few drops then a slight show
er until it became a rain. It was very hot and the sky was cloudy when we came so we expected to rain in a while. It rained in less than half an hour so it's pretty fast. The activities resumed and went back to normal.

There are exhibits of jet plane fighters for the people to see, food stalls, free drinking water, and toy items being sold in the ground. On the other end of the field are the bleachers where you pay $5.00 to have a better view of the main activity. But we brought seats with us so we just chose the best spot behind the stage where the commentator talks and describes the style of air exhibition.

I was so amazed with F-18 Hornet when it performed its maneuver called "the whisper pass." With speed at 1,200 mph, it passed by in front of us silently which followed by a tremendous roaring sound after 5 seconds! It's Hubee's favorite jet fighter plane.

The speed is faster than the sound and it's 10 times lo
uder than the nature's thunder. You bet, we were exposed to the heaviest noise pollution ever. We didn't buy ear plugs. We were there to hear the sound!

At 3PM, the people started to flock in front spoiling our comfortable view. The Blue Angels started its assembly. Our excitement was running wild as we see the "men in blue" go inside their respective jets one by one. Jet 1...Jet 2...Jet 3...until Jet 6.

It was an awesome moment as the Blue Angels take off! It's overwhelming and as they gracefully performed their aerobatic maneuvers, the stage played heavy metal hits as the background.

I miss my two brothers in Manila. They would surely enjoy the air show. And the only thing that's scary out there, is the fact that one wrong move of just one of them in a split second we're all be part of a blast. That's how powerful their engines are and the fuel of the US Air Force's jet fighter planes.

They had various formations on air. They even had their jets inverted while flying with just an 18-inch distance to one another. I began to think it must be really difficult to perfect that exhibition. Just a week ago in the news one pilot tragically died in the practice. But the show must go on. It's an entertainment and it's for the Americans who support the US Navy and Air Force the reason why they still continue to do so.

I didn't feel the sunburn and the heat that stuck in my skin. It was like a dream that I went to for a moment but realized it was not an imagination at all. I have just seen a live air show and it's fantastic!

Blue Angels is the U.S. Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron. It's mission is to enhance Navy and Marine Corps recruiting efforts and to represent the naval service to the United States, its elected leadership and foreign nations. The Blue Angels serve as positive role models and goodwill ambassadors for the U. S. Navy and Marine Corps.

If there's any truth about reincarnation, in my next life I would like to be a man. And the profession that I would choose would be a pilot preferably in air force. Sounds good to me! :)
