There's truth about what every parent says. Once you have a baby, all you wanted to do is to protect her and keep her safe all the time even from just a strand of dirty hair. My Bienne is turning 5 months old next week and I can tell you right now she's pretty long for her age. She's slim and some say she's tiny but long. I can already see she got the height from Daddy. I just hope she continues to grow that way.
Two weeks ago was her 4th month well-child check-up to her Pediatrician. It went fine. She was given another dose of vaccines appropriate for her age. But this is my concern now. A lot of media campaign and TV appearances from a private organization aims to stop too much vaccines for the babies at a very early age. Too many, too soon they say. The reason? Vaccines according to them are said to be one of the major factors of the growing cases of Autism in the US today. Can you believe that? All along we thought and we were taught that vaccines are supposed to protect the children. And it is up to now.
Sharing my concern with my baby's doctor, she assured me that it was already medically proven that there were no proofs that vaccines are linked to autism one way or another. The American Academy of Pediatrician also disputes such claim. So who else is more knowledgeable than the one who spent years in medicine school really?
I feel for the parents with a child diagnosed with autism but if I decide to stop vaccinating my child because of fear of autism that will surely put my baby at risk from the diseases that are still lurking around and do continue to exist. Sometimes I wish that those people just simply stop blaming the vaccines as one of the major causes of autism. It's like crying fire when there is none. But what if it really does? Dilemma isn't it? For a parent to see her child not grow up like a normal child should be or in bed stricken with a preventable disease is just so crushing to the heart. Although studies already revealed that vaccines are perfecctly safe, the government here vows to continue further extensive research for vaccine-autism link. For the meantime, it's best to follow the doctor's order.
I wonder if the case is the same in the Philippines. Is it?
