She may not be the perfect president, perfect mom, and perfect person but who is? She bravely fought for every Filipino's freedom and taught us to be proud of being one.Tita Cory to many, will forever be remembered as the Mother of Democracy.
I would like to share one of the happiest moments in my life where I got the chance to personally talk to her.
I was the public relations officer to Wyett's Gifted Children at that time and she was invited to speak for the gifted children. Her appearance was brief because of another engagement. Her bodyguards were strict no media could get near her. I was few steps away as she approached the exit door. Not minding what the bodyguards could do to me I bravely approached her and said "Hi Tita Cory. Pwede po bang magpa-picture ang gifted children with you?" With humbleness in her face she replied to me in one word - "Sure" with the sweetest smile I've ever seen. In a stressful event like that, I surely needed one.
It was a very heart-melting moment. How can someone with a position and known to the world can do such gesture to a nobody and ordinary person like me. For at that moment it didn't feel like I've just spoken to a former president but a mother to everyone.
Thank you President Cory for the memories and for all you've done for us. You will always be remembered.
